Beta Rho Chapter Spotlight

The Beta Rho Boot Print: Highlighting Chapter Brothers leaving their “Boot Print” across the Mississippi Delta.

Rep. Bro. John Hines (13-18-BP) discusses plans for governing healthcare facilities in the Mississippi Delta through a new hospital authority. The bill would establish a new authority for health care in the region. However, there was no conversation with the local government or health care authorities or officials.

Black History Month

On February 25, brothers participated in a “For the Culture” walk to view the banners, decorating Greenwood, of Chapter Brothers in the area that were highlighted.

Greenwood Mentoring Group Visit

Brother Crawford is seen engaging with children during a STEM Activity. That Monday evening, Brother Crawford visited the Greenwood Mentoring Group in Greenwood, Mississippi to lead children in a car building activity. Students were provided Ziploc bags that contained multiple components for the construction activity however their imagination played the largest part in successfully creating their miniature cars. Concepts such as problem solving, teamwork, and conflict resolution were discussed during the afterschool session. After the various groups created their cars, a contest was held to observe which car could hold the most weight and which car to travel the furthest unassisted.

Community Kitchen Service

Brothers are seen outside the Greenwood Community Kitchen distributing clothes and food boxes. Clothing garments included nice winter coats, sweaters, shirts, and skull caps. A total of 48 food boxes were distributed to citizens that frequently visit the Community kitchen. In the photos below, brothers are seen fellowshipping at the Leflore County Chamber of Commerce. Chapter members reminisced on good times while watching past step show competitions and enjoying pizza.

Salvation Army Kettle Drive Kick-Off

Brother Larry Crawford is pictured above with other attendees at the Annual Salvation Army Kettle Drive kick-off in front of Greenwood Market Place. Beta Rho and Beta Theta chapters attend and support the drive annually by participating in the Kettle Drive competition. Omega Psi Phi has been among the top fundraising teams for the local branch over the past decade resulting in a great relationship between the charitable organization and the chapter.

Mother Day Tributes

While the chapter’s service primarily consists of in-person projects and activities, Beta Rho Chapter consistently strives to present a presence on various Social Media platforms. The chapter provides productions for major holidays and other observances to promote a positive and wholesome brand.
